Share Your ExperienceProduct Overview
The architecture of DASD Explorer consisted of three primary components: a data ingestion module, a processing engine, and a reporting module. The data ingestion module read data from IDCAMS DCOLLECT output, which was typically stored in VSAM datasets. The processing engine transformed the raw data into performance metrics, such as response times, transfer rates, and device utilization.
This engine utilized internal algorithms to calculate these metrics. The reporting module presented the processed data through the command-line interface, allowing users to generate summary reports, detailed reports, and custom reports. The communication between components was primarily internal, using file-based data transfer.
Configuration parameters were stored in flat files. The product did not expose any APIs. The product is no longer supported; users should consider alternative solutions for DASD performance monitoring.
