Product Overview

IO Explorer's architecture was a batch-oriented system designed for processing SMF Type 30 records. The main components included a JCL-based data collection job, a processing engine, and a reporting module. The data collection job read SMF records from the SMF data sets.

The processing engine performed calculations and aggregations based on parameters defined in parameter datasets. The reporting module generated reports in a predefined format. Data was stored in VSAM datasets.

Communication between components was primarily through JCL and dataset I/O. There were no APIs or external interfaces. The system did not support any form of real-time data processing or interactive analysis.

The lack of APIs and modern integration capabilities limits its usefulness in modern IT environments. The system's design was focused on batch processing, with no support for real-time monitoring or dynamic dashboards.
