Mainstar SYSchange

The architecture of Mainstar SYSchange is centered around several key components designed to manage PDS member updates effectively. The primary components include the Change Application Engine, the Backup and Restore Module, and the Audit Logging System. The Change Application Engine is responsible for applying changes to PDS members.

It processes commands such as `CHANGE` and `BACKOUT`, ensuring that updates are applied correctly and efficiently. The Backup and Restore Module automatically backs up PDS members before changes are applied, allowing for easy restoration of previous versions. The Audit Logging System captures detailed information about all changes, including who made the change, when it was made, and what was changed.

These components communicate through z/OS system services, ensuring reliable and secure data access. SYSchange utilizes the z/OS security infrastructure, including RACF, ACF2, and Top Secret, for authentication and access control. The system does not expose external APIs.

Instead, it relies on the z/OS environment for all operations. The configuration files define operational parameters, security settings, and site-specific configurations. The product's focus is on z/OS environments, unlike some competitors that may offer broader platform support.
