Product Overview

The architecture of ASG-APC for ASG-TriTune is centered around three main components: the APC Controller, the Monitoring Agent, and the Configuration Manager. The APC Controller is the central component, responsible for managing the overall monitoring process. It receives commands from the z/OS console and interacts with the Monitoring Agent.

The Monitoring Agent is the interface to ASG-TriTune, responsible for starting and stopping the monitoring processes based on the criteria defined in the configuration files. The Configuration Manager handles the configuration files, which define the parameters for monitoring, including the criteria for starting and stopping the monitoring process. These files are stored as z/OS datasets.

Communication between these components occurs primarily through z/OS system services. The APC Controller uses these services to communicate with the Monitoring Agent, and the Monitoring Agent uses them to interact with ASG-TriTune. The system utilizes z/OS datasets for storing configuration data and system logs for logging and auditing.

The z/OS security system, including RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret, is used for authentication and access control. The z/OS console interface is the primary administrative interface, allowing users to issue commands such as START MONITOR and STOP MONITOR. The system does not expose any external APIs.

Network requirements are minimal, primarily for internal z/OS communication.
