Product Overview
(E)JES architecture comprises several key components: the Command Processor, the Display Manager, and the JES Interface. The Command Processor handles user input and command execution. The Display Manager formats and presents job information.
The JES Interface communicates with JES2 and JES3 to retrieve job data. These components communicate using z/OS internal mechanisms. The system uses z/OS datasets for data storage.
The API supports RESTful calls, with endpoints like `/jobs/{jobname}` for job details and `/jobs/{jobname}/start` for job initiation. Authentication supports RACF and other security managers. Access control is based on RBAC, ensuring secure access to resources.
Audit logging captures all user actions, providing a comprehensive audit trail. Network requirements include a configured TCP/IP stack. Compared to SDSF, (E)JES offers improved performance and a more user-friendly interface.
