Product Overview
The 3770Link architecture consists of two primary components: the 3770Link client and the SNA server. The 3770Link client is a Windows application that provides the user interface and handles file transfer operations. The SNA server, such as Microsoft Host Integration Server, manages the SNA communication with the mainframe.
Communication between the 3770Link client and the SNA server occurs over TCP/IP, using the SNA RJE protocol. The 3770Link client initiates file transfers by sending commands to the SNA server, which then interacts with the mainframe. The configuration settings, including SNA server connection details and file transfer parameters, are stored in a configuration file, typically an INI file.
There is no direct database or storage mechanism within 3770Link itself; it relies on the SNA server for connection management and the mainframe for data storage. Network requirements include connectivity to the SNA server via TCP/IP, and the SNA server must be configured to communicate with the mainframe. The 3770Link client listens on a configurable port for incoming connections from the SNA server.
