Product Overview

The TPS/TN3270 Client's architecture is designed for secure and reliable TN3270 terminal emulation. The main components include the Connection Manager, Terminal Emulator, and Security Module. The Connection Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining TN3270 sessions.

It handles the initial connection to the mainframe, manages session state, and handles connection errors. The Terminal Emulator interprets and displays 3270 data streams. It supports various 3270 terminal types and printer emulations, including IBM 3278 and IBM 3279.

The Security Module manages authentication and encryption. It supports TLS/SSL encryption for secure data transmission, ensuring data confidentiality and integrity. The client uses a configuration file to store user preferences and connection settings.

The configuration file allows for customization of terminal settings, color schemes, and security configurations. The client communicates using the TN3270 protocol over TCP/IP. The client supports authentication via username/password.

The client logs all connection attempts, authentication events, and errors to a log file. The client's design prioritizes security, performance, and ease of use. The client's modular design allows for future enhancements and integrations.
