Product Overview
The architecture of Debug Tool for VSEn is designed to provide a comprehensive debugging environment for COBOL, C, and PL/I applications on the zVSE/VSEn platform. The main components include the Debugger Engine, which handles the core debugging logic; the Command Interpreter, which parses and executes user commands; the User Interface, providing the means for interaction; the Language Parsers, responsible for understanding the source code; and the Communication Manager, which handles communication with the zVSE/VSEn operating system and the debugged application. These components communicate through internal APIs and data structures.
The Debugger Engine interacts with the Language Parsers to interpret the source code and set breakpoints. The Command Interpreter processes user input, such as `LIST`, `GO`, `STEP`, and `QUIT` commands, and interacts with the Debugger Engine to control execution. The User Interface presents the debugging information to the user.
Configuration files are used to store debugging settings and preferences. Debug Tool for VSEn supports both batch and CICS environments. The tool's specialized support for zVSE/VSEn and legacy applications distinguishes it from other debugging tools.
The tool helps to quickly identify and resolve issues, improving code quality and reducing development time.
