PIE/CICS MultiCICS

The PIE/CICS MultiCICS architecture comprises several key components: the Gateway, Session Manager, and Application Interface. The Gateway acts as the entry point, handling incoming VTAM sessions and routing them to the appropriate Session Manager instances. The Session Manager is responsible for managing individual CICS sessions, including session initiation, termination, and data routing.

The Application Interface facilitates communication between the Session Manager and the CICS applications. Communication between components occurs over TCP/IP. The configuration files define session parameters, routing rules, and security settings.

The `START` command initiates a new session, specifying the session ID. For example, `START SESSION1` starts session SESSION1. The `STOP` command terminates a session, such as `STOP SESSION1`.

The system supports various authentication methods, including user ID and password. Access control is managed through the CICS security mechanisms. The product provides detailed logging and monitoring capabilities, including session activity, performance metrics, and error logs.
