The P/390 architecture comprised the emulator software, the Server-on-Board expansion card, and the OS/2 operating system. The emulator software, the core component, translated System z mainframe instructions into PC-compatible instructions. The Server-on-Board provided hardware support, including memory and I/O capabilities, to facilitate the emulation.
Communication between components occurred through the OS/2 operating system, with network communication using TCP/IP. The emulator software interacted with the OS/2 kernel to manage system resources. Data storage utilized the OS/2 file system.
The administrative interface was primarily the OS/2 command line and GUI. Key configuration parameters included network settings, memory allocation, and system resource limits. P/390 is not supported; explore System z Personal Development Tool or other current IBM mainframe environments.
