Product Overview
The architecture comprises the S-TAP agent on z/OS, the Guardium collector, and the Guardium aggregator. The S-TAP agent reads SMF records, filters relevant data, and transmits it to the Guardium collector via TCP/IP. The Guardium collector receives the data and forwards it to the Guardium aggregator for processing and storage.
The S-TAP agent uses configuration files and JCL to define its behavior, including which SMF records to monitor and the connection details for the Guardium collector. The Guardium aggregator, such as IBM Security Guardium Central Manager, provides a centralized interface for managing the data and generating reports. The communication between the S-TAP agent and the Guardium collector uses TCP/IP.
The data is stored in a database within the Guardium aggregator. The S-TAP agent's configuration is managed through JCL and configuration files.
