Product Overview

The architecture of Omegamon z/OS Management Console was based on a client-server model. The main components included the monitoring agent, which resided on the z/OS system, and the Tivoli Monitoring server. The agent collected data on system resources such as CPU utilization, memory usage, disk I/O, and network traffic.

The agent communicated with the Tivoli Monitoring server using TCP/IP. Configuration files on the z/OS system defined parameters such as data collection intervals, thresholds, and connection details for the Tivoli Monitoring server. The Tivoli Monitoring GUI provided a centralized interface for viewing and analyzing the collected data.

Authentication was handled through the z/OS security infrastructure, which could include methods such as RACF. Access control was managed through the z/OS security model. Data transmission between the monitoring agent and the Tivoli Monitoring server could be secured using SSL/TLS encryption.

The product provided logging capabilities to track user activity and system events. The product is not supported. Consider IBM Z System Automation, Broadcom Mainframe Operations Intelligence, or BMC AMI Ops Monitor for z/OS as alternatives.
