Product Overview

The architecture of MAINVIEW for IP consists of several key components: the Data Collector, Data Server, View Server, and user interface. The Data Collector resides on the z/OS system and gathers network performance data using protocols like SNMP and TCP/IP. The Data Server processes and stores the collected data, providing a central repository for analysis.

The View Server provides the user interface, allowing administrators to monitor network performance, configure alerts, and generate reports. Communication between components occurs over TCP/IP. The Data Collector sends data to the Data Server, which then makes the data available to the View Server.

The product supports user ID and password authentication. The access control model is based on user roles and permissions. The product uses encryption to protect sensitive data during transmission and storage.

MAINVIEW for IP has been replaced by BMC AMI Ops for Networks.
