Product Overview

The architecture of IKJEFLN2 is centered around an exit routine integrated into the TSO logon process on z/OS. The main components include the exit routine itself, the screen presentation logic, and the configuration parameters. The exit routine is invoked when a user attempts to log on to TSO.

It intercepts the logon request and checks if the user is already logged on. If a duplicate logon is detected, the exit routine takes control and presents a screen to the user. This screen offers two primary options: reconnect to the existing session or cancel the new logon attempt.

The screen presentation logic handles the display of the reconnect options and the interaction with the user. Configuration parameters define the behavior of the reconnect screen, such as the messages displayed, the actions allowed, and any specific session handling rules. The exit routine communicates directly with the TSO and VTAM subsystems to manage the session.

It does not rely on external databases or storage mechanisms for its core functionality. The exit supports both TN3270 and VTAM 3270 sessions, ensuring compatibility across different connection types. The installation involves linking the exit routine into the TSO logon modules.

Monitoring and logging capabilities are available to track the exit's activity and troubleshoot issues. Compared to competing products, IKJEFLN2 offers a focused solution for session management without the overhead of broader security or access control features. The architecture is designed for simplicity and efficiency, ensuring minimal impact on system performance.
