DMLO Snitch

The architecture of DMLO Snitch comprises several key components designed for monitoring CA IDMS environments on z/OS. The primary components include the Monitoring Agent, the Data Collector, and the Reporting Engine. The Monitoring Agent resides within the z/OS environment and is responsible for collecting real-time performance data from the CA IDMS database.

It interacts with the IDMS system through internal interfaces and system calls. The Data Collector receives the data from the Monitoring Agent and processes it. This component aggregates and stores the data, typically using VSAM or other z/OS-compatible storage mechanisms.

The Reporting Engine provides the interface for viewing and analyzing the collected data. It generates reports and displays performance metrics. Communication between these components occurs via z/OS internal mechanisms, ensuring efficient data transfer.

Configuration is managed through JCL and parameter files, allowing for customization of monitoring parameters. Security is handled through z/OS authentication and access control mechanisms. Audit logging provides detailed tracking of system activities.

DMLO Snitch does not expose external APIs. Compared to other monitoring tools, DMLO Snitch offers specific features tailored to the CA IDMS environment, providing detailed insights into IDMS performance and behavior.
