BATSTAT

The architecture of BATSTAT is designed for efficient monitoring and analysis of CA IDMS batch processing on z/OS. The main components include the Monitor Engine, Data Collector, Reporting Module, and Configuration Manager. The Monitor Engine is the core component, responsible for real-time data collection.

It gathers performance metrics from the IDMS environment using system calls and shared memory. The Data Collector processes the raw data collected by the Monitor Engine and prepares it for storage and reporting. The Reporting Module generates reports and provides historical analysis.

It retrieves data from VSAM datasets and presents it in a user-friendly format. The Configuration Manager handles the product's configuration, including setting parameters for data collection, alert thresholds, and report generation. Communication between components occurs through shared memory, system services, and VSAM datasets.

The Monitor Engine and Data Collector communicate via shared memory to exchange real-time performance data. The Reporting Module accesses data stored in VSAM datasets. The Configuration Manager uses JCL and system parameters to configure the product.

Data is stored in VSAM datasets, optimized for high-speed data access. Network requirements are minimal, as the product primarily operates within the z/OS environment. The architecture is designed to minimize resource consumption and ensure high performance.
