Batch Bridge

The Batch Bridge architecture comprises three main components: the JES Interface, the Communication Server, and the Target System Agent. The JES Interface resides on the mainframe and receives job requests from the Job Entry Subsystem (JES). It translates these requests into a format suitable for the target systems.

The Communication Server acts as the central hub, managing communication between the mainframe and the target systems. It uses TCP/IP for network communication. The Target System Agent, installed on the Windows or UNIX systems, executes the jobs and returns the results.

Communication between components uses a proprietary protocol over TCP/IP. Configuration files define system connections, job execution parameters, and security settings. The administrative interface, accessible via the command-line interface (CLI), allows for user management, configuration changes, and monitoring.

Data storage is primarily file-based, with logs and configuration data stored on both the mainframe and the target systems. Network requirements include open ports for TCP/IP communication between the mainframe and the target systems. Security features include user authentication and access control.
