The architecture of Application Backup Center is centered around several key components designed to automate and streamline backup and recovery processes on z/OS. The Rule Engine is responsible for processing user-defined rules to determine which datasets to include in ABARS lists. The ABARS List Generator then creates the ABARS lists based on the output of the Rule Engine.
The JCL Generator takes the ABARS lists and generates the necessary JCL for dataset recovery. These components communicate through internal interfaces, ensuring a seamless workflow. The primary interface for administration and operation is ISPF, providing access to all functionalities.
The system utilizes z/OS security features for authentication and access control, integrating with RACF or similar security products. Data is stored on z/OS-compatible storage, and the system does not require specific network ports beyond standard z/OS communication protocols. The Rule Engine processes user-defined rules to determine which datasets to include in ABARS lists, and the JCL Generator creates dataset recovery JCL based on the ABARS lists.
The ISPF interface provides access to configuration parameters, logging, and monitoring capabilities.
