WizDom

WizDom's architecture is centered around providing an ISPF-like interface for dataset management on z/OS. The main components include the ISPF interface, which provides the user interaction layer; the dataset access module, responsible for interacting with VSAM, IMS, DB2, and CA IDMS datasets; the date/time simulation engine, which allows programs to be run with a simulated z/OS date/time; and the database interaction layer, which handles communication with the underlying database systems. Communication between these components occurs through z/OS system services and internal function calls.

The ISPF interface handles user input and displays data. The dataset access module uses z/OS APIs to read and write data to the supported dataset types. The date/time simulation engine intercepts and modifies date/time system calls, allowing for testing and development scenarios.

The database interaction layer uses database-specific APIs to interact with the databases. WizDom relies on the z/OS security system (RACF or equivalent) for authentication and access control. Configuration files store user preferences and settings, which are accessed through the ISPF interface.

The tool does not expose external APIs. The automated date incrementing feature is implemented within the dataset access module, and the simulated date/time functionality is integrated into the system call interception mechanism. WizDom's design prioritizes integration with the z/OS environment, leveraging existing system services and security features.
