The architecture of Tivoli AF/Operator consists of several key components. The Automation Engine is the core component responsible for executing automation tasks. The Message Monitor intercepts and analyzes z/OS console messages, triggering actions based on predefined rules.
The REXX interpreter processes the REXX scripts that define the automation logic. Communication between components occurs through internal interfaces and message queues. The Message Monitor passes console messages to the Automation Engine, which then executes the appropriate REXX scripts.
REXX scripts interact with z/OS through system commands. There are no external APIs. The system relies on the z/OS security infrastructure for authentication and access control.
User access is managed through the z/OS security system, such as RACF. Configuration parameters are primarily defined within REXX scripts and through the z/OS system configuration. The system does not have built-in monitoring capabilities beyond console message monitoring.
