Rocket Zebb

The architecture of Rocket Zebb is centered around several key components designed to provide a robust and automated batch job restart solution on z/OS. The Zebb Monitor is the core component, responsible for continuously monitoring the status of batch jobs. It interfaces with the z/OS system to detect job failures.

The Zebb Restart Manager is responsible for initiating the restart process. It uses the configuration data stored in the Zebb Control File to determine the appropriate restart actions. The Zebb Control File is a critical configuration file that defines restart criteria, job dependencies, and other settings.

It allows for granular control over the restart process, including step-level restarts. The ISPF interface provides a user-friendly way to configure and monitor jobs. The CLI allows for scripting and integration with other automation tools.

Communication between components occurs through z/OS system services and internal APIs. The product integrates with the z/OS security system (RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret) for authentication and access control. Audit logs are generated for security and compliance.

The system uses standard z/OS file systems for storage of configuration and log data. Network requirements are minimal, as the product primarily interacts with the z/OS system locally.
