The Windows server archiving component receives the transmitted data and stores it in a secure storage location. This component is responsible for data integrity and ensuring the data is available for restoration. The restoration engine is the core component that orchestrates the data recovery process.

It retrieves the archived data from the Windows server and restores it to the z/OS environment. The communication between these components is managed through a combination of network protocols and internal APIs. The z/OS module interacts with the Windows server component using network protocols, while the restoration engine uses the archived data to restore the system.

The system uses standard network ports for communication, and the specific ports used depend on the network configuration. The storage mechanism on the Windows server is configurable, allowing for flexibility in choosing the appropriate storage solution. The system supports authentication through z/OS and Windows server security features, ensuring that only authorized users can access and restore data.
