Share Your ExperienceProduct Overview
The architecture of MAINVIEW AutoOperator TapeSHARE comprises several key components. The TapeSHARE address space is the central process, responsible for managing the overall sharing functionality. The TapeSHARE control module handles the allocation and deallocation of tape drives, responding to requests from z/OS systems.
Configuration data sets store the parameters that define shared tape drives, participating systems, and operational thresholds. Communication between components occurs through z/OS system services and internal mechanisms. There is no direct API, but the AutoOperator interface provides access to the functionality.
The product uses z/OS security, relying on existing security profiles for access control. Monitoring and logging are integrated with MAINVIEW AutoOperator, providing real-time status and performance metrics. The product supports a wide range of tape drive types compatible with z/OS.
The configuration data sets are critical for defining the shared tape drive environment and are managed through the AutoOperator interface. The product does not use any external databases or storage mechanisms beyond the z/OS environment.
