Product Overview
The architecture of CQ-3770 comprises several key components. The primary component is the Windows application, which provides the user interface and command-line interface for file transfer operations. This application interacts with the SNA Server, such as Microsoft Host Integration Server or IBM Communication Server, to establish a connection with the mainframe.
The SNA Server handles the SNA protocol communication. For CQ3770-EE, the Enterprise Extender component enables SNA over TCP/IP. The mainframe system, running JES2/JES3 on z/OS or POWER on z/VSE, acts as the destination for file transfers.
Data storage is handled by the mainframe's dataset management system, not by CQ-3770 itself. The communication flow involves the CQ-3770 application sending commands to the SNA Server, which then transmits the data to the mainframe using SNA RJE or SNA over TCP/IP via Enterprise Extender. The main configuration parameters include the SNA Server settings, mainframe system address, and dataset definitions.
The product does not use a database for storing data or configurations.
