Product Overview

CA PLEU's architecture comprised several key components. The core component was the extraction engine, responsible for reading and parsing the ADABAS protection logs (PLOGs). This engine processed sequential file I/O operations to access the PLOG data.

A filtering module allowed users to specify criteria for selecting specific events, such as user ID, database ID, or event type. The filtering module used logical expressions to evaluate the criteria and select the relevant log entries. A reporting component generated output in various formats, including text files and reports.

The reporting component formatted the extracted data according to user-defined specifications. The tool did not expose any APIs. The primary interface was a command-line interface (CLI).

The CLI commands included `PLEU EXTRACT`, `PLEU FILTER`, and `PLEU REPORT`. The configuration was managed through parameters passed on the command line, specifying input and output files, and filtering criteria. The tool used sequential file I/O for reading PLOG data and writing output reports.

There was no support for external programming languages or SDKs. The communication protocol was based on file I/O operations. CA PLEU is no longer supported; therefore, alternative solutions should be considered.
