HSL Information System

The HSL Information System architecture is built upon a modular design, with key components interacting within the z/OS environment. The Super Menu serves as the central point of access, providing a personalized interface for users. The Online Report Viewer allows users to view reports generated within and outside of CA IDMS.

The Online Help module provides context-sensitive assistance, reducing the need for external documentation. The JCL Submission module enables users to submit JCL jobs directly from the system. These components communicate using standard z/OS interfaces and protocols, ensuring compatibility and seamless integration.

The system leverages the underlying z/OS security infrastructure for authentication and access control. User authentication is handled through RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret, depending on the z/OS configuration. Access control is managed using the ACL model within the z/OS security system.

The system does not expose external APIs. Data storage relies on the z/OS file system and CA IDMS databases. The system's design prioritizes integration with the existing z/OS and CA IDMS environments, ensuring compatibility and ease of use.

The system's modular design allows for independent updates and enhancements without impacting other components. The system's architecture is designed for scalability and maintainability, ensuring long-term viability.
