The architecture of ETF/H consists of several key components designed to automate password resets and user ID management within a z/OS environment. The main components include the ETF/H daemon, the command interface, and the configuration files. The ETF/H daemon runs as a started task and is the core process responsible for handling requests.
The command interface provides a CLI for administrators to interact with the system, using commands such as `RESET_PASSWORD` and `UNLOCK_USER`. Configuration files store parameters like security system connection details, password policies, and logging settings. Communication between the command interface and the daemon typically occurs through z/OS system services.
The daemon interacts with the security systems (RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret) using their respective APIs. Data storage relies on the underlying security system's database for user account information. Network requirements are minimal, as the system primarily operates within the z/OS environment.
ETF/H does not expose any external APIs. Compared to custom solutions, ETF/H offers a pre-built, tested solution. Competitors may offer similar functionality, but ETF/H's direct integration with the supported security systems is a key differentiator.
The system's design prioritizes security and efficiency, providing a robust solution for user account management.
