z/Scope

z/Scope's architecture is designed for secure and efficient mainframe access. The main components include the Client (Windows or Web), the Connection Manager, the TN3270/TN5250/VT* Emulation Engine, and the Security Module. The Client provides the user interface and handles user input and output.

The Connection Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining connections to the mainframe. It manages connection profiles and handles protocol negotiation. The Emulation Engine translates user input into mainframe-compatible commands and displays mainframe output.

It supports TN3270, TN5250, and VT* protocols. The Security Module handles authentication, encryption, and access control. It supports user ID and password authentication, and integrates with external authentication systems.

Encryption is used to secure communication between the client and the mainframe. The GUI provides a centralized interface for configuration and management. Configuration files store connection profiles, security settings, and user preferences.

The system uses TCP/IP for communication. z/Scope does not expose external APIs. The system supports auditing and logging capabilities to track user activities and system events.

Access control is managed using ACLs.
