XTINCT

The XTINCT architecture is composed of several key components designed to provide a robust and secure data erasure solution. The XTINCT Engine is the core component, responsible for executing the data erasure process. It interacts directly with the storage devices to overwrite data according to the selected erasure policy.

The Policy Manager allows administrators to define, manage, and enforce erasure policies. These policies specify the data sanitization method, such as the number of overwrite passes and the pattern used. The Audit Logger captures all erasure activities, including the date, time, user, and the specific data erased.

This component provides a comprehensive audit trail for compliance and reporting. Communication between components occurs primarily through z/OS system services and internal APIs. There are no external database dependencies.

The product utilizes standard z/OS security protocols, including RACF, for authentication and authorization. The CLI provides a direct interface for administrative tasks, including the creation and management of erasure policies and the initiation of data erasure operations. The product's design prioritizes data security and operational efficiency within the z/OS environment.
