TERADON

The TERADON architecture is designed for high-performance data movement and catalog management on z/OS. The main components include the Data Mover, Catalog Manager, and Control Processor. The Data Mover utilizes optimized I/O routines and parallel processing techniques to achieve high throughput when transferring datasets.

It supports various data set types and attributes, ensuring data integrity during the move. The Catalog Manager updates catalog entries, ensuring that the metadata accurately reflects the new location or status of the datasets. The Control Processor acts as the central point of control, managing job scheduling, command parsing, and error handling.

Communication between components is facilitated through z/OS system services, enabling efficient and reliable inter-process communication. Data storage utilizes VSAM, leveraging the performance and reliability of the z/OS file system. Network requirements are minimal, as the product operates within the z/OS environment.

The primary administrative interface is the command-line interface (CLI), which allows for detailed control over all operations. Configuration parameters are stored in control files, allowing for customization of the product's behavior. Monitoring and logging capabilities provide detailed information on job progress, performance metrics, and error conditions.

The product integrates with existing z/OS security features, including RACF, for authentication and authorization.
