Tun Plus

The architecture of Tun Plus is centered around three primary components: the TN3270 client, the connection manager, and the security module. The TN3270 client is responsible for the user interface, handling the display of mainframe screens and user input. It translates user actions into TN3270 protocol commands and sends them to the mainframe.

The connection manager is the core component for establishing and maintaining connections to the mainframe. It handles the initial connection handshake, session management, and data transmission using the TN3270 protocol. The security module provides authentication and encryption capabilities.

It supports user authentication via user ID and password, and secures data transmission using TLS/SSL encryption. The communication flow begins with the user initiating a connection through the TN3270 client. The client then interacts with the connection manager to establish a connection to the specified mainframe host.

The connection manager uses the configured security settings to authenticate the user and establish a secure channel. Data is transmitted between the client and the mainframe using the TN3270 protocol, with the security module ensuring that the data is encrypted during transit. The configuration files store settings such as host addresses, port numbers, and security parameters.

The GUI provides an interface for managing these settings. The product does not use a database for persistent storage, relying instead on configuration files and session data stored in memory.
