The architecture of TinyTerm ITX comprises several key components. The Session Manager handles the establishment and maintenance of TN3270 connections. The Terminal Emulator interprets and displays the 3270 data stream, rendering the mainframe interface on the client device.
The Configuration Manager stores and manages user settings, including keyboard mappings, character sets, and session preferences. Communication between the client and the mainframe occurs over TCP/IP, typically using port 23. Data is transmitted in a structured format defined by the TN3270 protocol.
The application does not use a database for persistent storage of session data; instead, it relies on configuration files to store user settings. Session logging is supported, allowing for the recording of terminal sessions for auditing and troubleshooting purposes. Unlike some competitors, TinyTerm ITX does not offer extensive scripting capabilities or a REST API, focusing on direct terminal emulation.
