SimpList

The SimpList architecture is composed of several key components. The Command Processor is the core, interpreting user commands and directing operations. The Data Access Layer handles interactions with z/OS datasets, utilizing VSAM for data storage.

The User Interface Manager manages the display and user input, providing an ISPF-like experience. Communication between these components occurs through internal APIs. The system uses VSAM datasets for persistent data storage.

Network communication relies on TCP/IP for connectivity. The administrative interface is primarily a command-line interface, with user management integrated with RACF. Configuration parameters are stored in a dedicated configuration file, allowing customization of user environments and system behavior.

SimpList supports RACF for authentication, providing role-based access control. Audit logging is available, recording user actions and system events. Compared to ISPF, SimpList offers a simplified command structure and a more intuitive user interface.

A key technical difference is its streamlined approach to common z/OS tasks.
