Product Overview

The architecture of PMDC comprises three main components: the Data Collector, the Analysis Engine, and the Reporting Interface. The Data Collector resides within the z/OS environment and uses native interfaces to gather performance data directly from the CA IDMS database. The Analysis Engine processes this data, calculating key performance indicators (KPIs) and identifying potential bottlenecks.

The Reporting Interface provides a GUI for monitoring and configuration. Communication between the Data Collector and the CA IDMS database occurs via native protocols, ensuring efficient and secure data transfer. The Analysis Engine stores processed data in a dedicated storage mechanism.

The Reporting Interface accesses this data to generate reports and dashboards. The CLI allows for scripting and automation. The system integrates with the z/OS security infrastructure for user authentication and access control.

The Data Collector can be configured to collect data at various intervals, and the Analysis Engine can be configured to generate alerts based on predefined thresholds. The Reporting Interface allows for customization of reports and dashboards to meet specific monitoring needs. The system does not expose any external APIs.
