Product Overview

The PIXI architecture is centered around a client-server model. The PIXI Client, installed on the workstation, initiates document transfer requests. The PIXI Server, running on z/OS, processes these requests and interacts with OfficeVision MVS.

The communication layer utilizes TCP/IP for network transport. The core components include the Client, Server, and a configuration module. The client-server interaction follows these steps: The client initiates a connection to the server.

The server authenticates the client based on provided credentials. The client issues commands such as SEND, RECEIVE, LIST, and DELETE. The server processes these commands, interacting with OfficeVision MVS to store or retrieve documents.

The configuration module stores settings such as server address, port number, and user access permissions. The system uses a proprietary protocol over TCP/IP for data transfer. The system does not use any databases for storing documents or metadata.

The server listens on a configurable port, typically 21, for incoming connections from the client. The client and server components generate logs for auditing and troubleshooting. The system supports basic authentication using usernames and passwords.

The system does not support advanced authentication methods such as multi-factor authentication.
