MIGRA/PS

The architecture of MIGRA/PS is centered around three primary components: the Data Extractor, the Transformer, and the Loader. The Data Extractor retrieves data from the OfficeVision MVS system. The Transformer converts the extracted data into a format compatible with the target system, either Lotus Domino or Microsoft Exchange.

The Loader then imports the transformed data into the destination environment. These components communicate via internal APIs and utilize TCP/IP for network communication. The system uses configuration files to define connection parameters, data mapping rules, and other operational settings.

Data is temporarily stored in flat files during the migration process. The product does not use a relational database. The command-line interface provides access to the core functionalities, including the `EXTRACT`, `TRANSFORM`, and `LOAD` commands.

The Data Extractor component interacts with OfficeVision MVS using native z/OS interfaces. The Transformer component applies data mapping rules to convert the data. The Loader component uses the target system's APIs to import the data.

Compared to manual migration, MIGRA/PS automates the process, reducing manual effort and potential errors. Competitors include custom-built migration scripts, but MIGRA/PS offers a more integrated solution.
