OMC

The OMC architecture is composed of several key components: OMC-PRINT, OMC-TCP/IP, OMC-VIEW, and OMC-VNI. OMC-PRINT is responsible for print job management, including queue management, job scheduling, and error handling. OMC-TCP/IP provides TCP/IP printing capabilities, enabling communication with network printers and other systems using standard network protocols.

OMC-VIEW offers tools for viewing and managing print output, allowing users to access and control print jobs. OMC-VNI manages virtual network interfaces, providing enhanced network connectivity and control. These components communicate with each other and with z/OS print subsystems through internal z/OS communication mechanisms and TCP/IP protocols.

Configuration files define print queues, network settings, and operational parameters. For example, print queues are configured with specific device definitions and routing rules. Security relies on z/OS security features, such as RACF, for access control.

Audit trails are generated through z/OS security products, providing records of user actions and print job submissions. OMC's architecture is designed to provide a robust and scalable solution for managing network print output within a z/OS environment. The integration with z/OS print subsystems and network services ensures compatibility and efficient operation.
