Product Overview
The architecture of IMS System Utilities/Data Base Tools comprised several key components. The Fast ACB Generation utility processed DBD and PSB definitions to generate ACBs. The Image Copy Extensions utility compressed image copy output.
The Fast Prefix Resolution (FPR) utility resolved prefixes in database records. The Space Management Utilities (SMU) included components for HD pointer checking and database segment restructuring. The High Speed Sequential Retrieval (HSSR) utility provided high-performance database unload capabilities.
These components communicated with the IMS database through the IMS control blocks. The utilities relied on the z/OS operating system for resource management and I/O operations. The utilities did not expose APIs.
The utilities are no longer supported.
