GDDM

GDDM's architecture is centered around several key components: GDDM Base, GDDM-PGF, GDDM-ICU, GDDM-GKS, and GDDM-IDM. GDDM Base provides the foundational graphics capabilities, including device-independent graphics primitives. GDDM-PGF extends these capabilities with presentation graphics features, enabling the creation of charts and graphs.

GDDM-ICU provides an interactive interface for chart creation. GDDM-GKS offers an ISO 7942 compliant API. GDDM-IDM supports interactive map definition.

Communication between these components is primarily managed through internal interfaces and system calls within the z/OS, z/VM, and z/VSE/VSEn environments. The system relies on the underlying operating system for resource management and security. Data storage is handled through the mainframe's file systems and databases.

Network requirements depend on the display devices used, typically requiring connectivity to mainframe terminals or other display devices through appropriate network protocols. Configuration parameters include display device characteristics, color palettes, and font selections, often managed through JCL and system configuration files. The system leverages the audit and logging capabilities of the z/OS, z/VM, and z/VSE/VSEn operating systems.
