Product Overview
CCP-Tool's architecture is centered around three main components: the SMF Data Ingestor, the Cost Modeling Engine, and the Reporting Module. The SMF Data Ingestor is responsible for importing and processing SMF data from z/OS systems. This component reads SMF records, parses them, and stores the relevant information in a file-based format.
The Cost Modeling Engine allows users to simulate different hardware configurations and their impact on software licensing costs. This engine uses algorithms to calculate the cost implications of various hardware scenarios, such as changes in CPU capacity or the addition of new LPARs. The Reporting Module generates detailed reports on software costs.
This module provides various reporting options, including cost summaries, trend analysis, and what-if scenarios. The tool uses a GUI for administration and configuration. User management is handled through the Windows operating system.
The tool uses file-based storage for configuration and data. Communication with z/OS systems occurs over a network, requiring specific ports to be open for data transfer. CCP-Tool does not expose any APIs.
The tool's primary function is to analyze SMF data and model software licensing costs. It does not support any API integrations.
