The AutoSoftCapping architecture comprises three main components: the Capping Engine, the Policy Manager, and the Monitoring Agent. The Capping Engine is the core component, residing in the z/OS environment and responsible for enforcing CPU limits. It interacts directly with the z/OS system to control CPU resources.
The Policy Manager provides the interface for defining and managing CPU capping policies. Policies are stored in the `ASC_CONFIG` file, which is a text-based configuration file. The Monitoring Agent collects real-time system metrics, including CPU usage, from the z/OS system.
Communication between components occurs through z/OS system services and APIs. The system uses SMF data for historical analysis and reporting. The REST API provides programmatic access to the system's functionality.
The API uses HTTPS for secure communication. The product supports user authentication and RBAC. The system stores configuration data in a flat file.
Network requirements include access to the z/OS system and the ability to communicate with the REST API.
