25 SNA Interconnection comprised several key components. The communication controllers (FEPs), such as the IBM 3725 and 3745, were central to the system. 25 protocol.
25 SNA Network Supervisory Function was another critical component, responsible for managing the network, collecting traffic data, and providing accounting information. The z/OS host system acted as the central processing unit, coordinating data transfer. Communication between the FEPs and the host used SNA protocols.
Configuration was primarily done through the FEPs, with parameters set to define network connections and data transmission characteristics. The product is not supported. Modern alternatives include TCP/IP and VPNs.
