SortStream Canada

SortStream Canada's architecture is designed for batch processing on z/OS and zVSE/VSEn platforms. The main components include the Input Processor, Address Validator, Sorter, and Output Generator. The Input Processor handles data ingestion from various input formats, such as sequential files and VSAM datasets.

The Address Validator uses Canada Post address databases to validate addresses and assign postal codes. The Sorter arranges the records according to postal code and carrier route, using internal sorting algorithms optimized for mainframe environments. The Output Generator creates the final output files in formats required by Canada Post, including reports and data files.

Communication between components occurs through internal data structures and file I/O operations. Data storage utilizes VSAM and sequential datasets. There are no REST or SOAP APIs.

Integration is achieved through JCL and configuration files. The system supports standard mainframe communication protocols. The primary interface is through JCL and configuration files.
