The architecture of Smart/QBF comprises several key components: the Job Submission component, the Job Monitor, and the SQL Executor. The Job Submission component handles the submission of batch jobs, allowing users to specify job names, JCL, and other parameters. The Job Monitor provides real-time status updates, error information, and allows for job control actions such as cancel and hold.
The SQL Executor enables the execution of SQL queries against Db2 databases directly from within batch jobs. These components communicate through z/OS system services and internal data structures. Configuration files, typically text-based, define job parameters, database connections, and other settings.
Authentication is handled through z/OS security, such as RACF, ensuring secure access. The product integrates with z/OS logging and auditing facilities. The SQL Executor interacts with Db2 using standard SQL protocols.
The Job Monitor component provides monitoring capabilities, including the ability to view the status of running jobs and identify errors. The system does not expose REST or SOAP APIs, relying on a native interface.
