Product Overview

Salvo's architecture comprised several key components: a screen definition module, a conversion engine, and a web server interface. The screen definition module allowed users to define the 3270 screens to be converted. The conversion engine translated these definitions into web page representations.

The web server interface handled the serving of the generated web pages. Communication between components was likely based on internal protocols, with the web server interface using standard HTTP for client interactions. The system did not use a database for core functionality, relying on configuration files to store screen definitions and settings.

Network requirements included standard HTTP ports (80 and 443) for web access. Salvo supported various terminal types, including 3270, VT100, and 5250. However, Salvo is not supported.

Organizations should consider alternative solutions such as Rocket Software UniKix or Micro Focus Enterprise Server. These alternatives offer similar capabilities for web-enabling 3270 applications and provide robust architectures and modern features.
