OV/Context

The architecture of OV/Context is centered around three primary components: the Indexing Engine, the Search Engine, and the Document Retrieval Module. The Indexing Engine is responsible for processing documents and creating a searchable index. This component parses documents, extracts relevant metadata, and builds the index data structures.

The Search Engine receives search queries, consults the index, and identifies documents that match the search criteria. This engine is optimized for fast query processing and efficient retrieval of document identifiers. The Document Retrieval Module then uses these identifiers to fetch the actual documents from storage.

Communication between these components occurs via internal protocols optimized for the z/OS environment. The system uses a command-line interface (CLI) for all operations. The CLI allows administrators to configure the system, manage the document index, and monitor performance.

The system integrates with the z/OS security infrastructure, supporting authentication through RACF. The system does not expose external APIs. The storage mechanism for the document index is optimized for fast search and retrieval within the z/OS environment.

The system's design prioritizes performance and efficiency within the OfficeVision MVS environment. The CLI provides direct access to administrative functions, including configuration of the document index and user management.
