Product Overview

The OMCS architecture comprises three main components: the Archiving Engine, the Reporting Engine, and the Distribution Manager. The Archiving Engine captures SYSOUT data from z/OS jobs and stores it in a central repository, which can be a file system or a database like DB2. The Reporting Engine generates reports from the archived data, supporting various output formats like PDF and HTML.

The Distribution Manager distributes reports to users based on predefined rules. These components communicate through internal APIs and message queues, ensuring loose coupling and scalability. OMCS exposes a REST API for external integration, with endpoints for archiving (/archive), report generation (/report), and distribution management (/distribution).

Security is enforced through authentication methods like LDAP and Kerberos, and role-based access control (RBAC). The system supports encryption of data at rest and in transit, using AES-256 and TLS respectively. Monitoring and logging capabilities provide insights into system performance and security events.
