The LOCKOut architecture was centered around a secure authentication process for VTAM networks. The main components included the Authentication Server, User Database, and Network Interface. The Authentication Server was responsible for generating challenges and validating user responses.
The User Database stored user credentials, including unique identifiers and associated security information. The Network Interface facilitated communication with the VTAM network, handling the exchange of challenges and responses. Communication between the client and the server used a proprietary protocol.
The system's design focused on providing a secure method for user authentication in a z/OS environment. The product is not supported. Consider alternatives like IBM Security Access Manager.
