IMS Checkpoint Wrapper

The architecture of IMS Checkpoint Wrapper centers around several key components designed to facilitate the conversion of IMS batch applications to BMP applications. The core component is the Wrapper itself, which intercepts IMS calls from the batch application. This component interacts with the IMS Control Region through standard z/OS system services.

The second major component is the IMS Control Region interface, which handles communication with the IMS system. This interface uses standard IMS APIs to manage database access, message queue interactions, and checkpoint/restart operations. The third key component is the application-specific configuration modules.

These modules are defined in JCL and configuration datasets and provide the mapping of batch calls to their BMP equivalents.
