FileXpress

The FileXpress architecture comprises several key components working together to provide managed file transfer capabilities. The core component is the FileXpress Server, which manages and orchestrates file transfers. FileXpress Agents are deployed on each endpoint to facilitate the actual file transfer.

These agents communicate with the server to coordinate transfers and report status. The Administration Console provides a web-based interface for managing and monitoring the system. Communication between components occurs over TCP/IP.

Agents communicate with the server using a proprietary protocol over configurable ports, often secured with TLS/SSL. The server uses a database, such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or IBM DB2, to store configuration data, transfer history, and user information. The REST API exposes endpoints for programmatic access, allowing other applications to initiate transfers and retrieve status information.

For example, a POST request to `/transfers` can initiate a transfer, while a GET request to `/transfers/{transferId}` can retrieve the status of a specific transfer. Security is enforced through role-based access control (RBAC) and AES encryption. Competing products often use similar architectures, but FileXpress distinguishes itself with its tight integration with the TIBCO platform.
